Milito spoke about Maximiliano Salas' departure from Racing, who has already signed with River Plate: "Disappointment"

Diego Milito criticized Marcelo Gallardo and the Millonario club for the recent transfer of Maximiliano Salas: "They couldn't keep their word."
Racing Club president Diego Milito addressed the controversial execution of striker Maximiliano Salas 's release clause . Milito stated that he feels "disappointed" with his peers at the Núñez-based club.
After several weeks of back-and-forth between Racing and River Plate regarding the Corrientes player, the story came to an end yesterday. Salas decided to leave Gustavo Costas' team's training camp in Paraguay to arrive in Buenos Aires as soon as possible and sign his contract with the "Millonario." For this reason, the forward did not travel to San Luis to play today's match against San Martín de San Juan.
Before the match, Racing's president spoke about what happened: "The word is, in a way, disappointment. Especially with River as an institution, with its general secretary. They couldn't keep their word. A month ago I was able to speak with them, and they told me this situation wasn't going to happen , that because of the pact in our football, they weren't going to exercise the clause. The word is disappointment ."

"I haven't seen the River Plate coach for over a year, there's no dialogue. I'm not friends. I understand that it's his usual practice, perhaps, to call players . I understand that he's not the only one who does it in our football. I wouldn't do it. When we had a player who had everything arranged for him to continue..." Milito stated, referring to his relationship with River Plate coach Marcelo Gallardo.
In this way, the Racing president questioned the actions of River Plate's management and Gallardo, who called the player before negotiating: "Everyone acts the way they feel. I spoke with my counterpart at River a month ago. They couldn't keep their word . Everyone does what they want or understand. We defend the club. The player decided, of his own free will, to execute the clause with River ."
He added: “I had a year and a half left on my contract with Racing. The idea was to extend it, update it. We reached an agreement. I was very happy . Then, there was a call that made me hesitate, put the brakes on the signing, and everything that happened happened.”

Milito also took the opportunity to call for solidarity among the leaders regarding the execution of clauses: "I want to take this opportunity to ask all the leaders to show solidarity and ensure this doesn't happen again. There are codes within management coexistence and institutional relations. Obviously, for some clubs this isn't the case . I hope it's not a bad precedent. Racing wouldn't do it. There are codes, there's an agreement."
In closing, Racing's president revealed coach Costas's feelings regarding the departure of a player he had invested in bringing to the club: "It's a disappointment because I was counting on the player. He was the one who brought him. An important player for him because of what he gave him and because he's known him for many years . This departure, of course, hurts him ."
